“Food is our common ground, a universal experience.”
It began 1987 Danielle & George Diaz decided to combine their talents and open a Neighborhood Market in the village of Irvington, New York. Danielle had worked as Manager at The Food Emporium and George worked for many years as a chef and butcher. They had the right ingredients to begin this new venture in their lives. After much thought they decided to name the store after both of them; Geor for George and Dane for Danielle and with that Geordanes came to life.
Like any middle class family starting a business takes complete family commitment, for the first few years Geordanes was run by Grandpa as the cashier, teenaged daughters Danette and Donna who worked behind the deli with their mom and George as the chef creating delicious daily specials.
Since then Geordanes Market has developed into a beautiful market attracting customers from all over the tri state area. They flock to the market for their local Grass fed beef (cut to order), Organic produce, local Hudson valley products, New York Style Deli, hot entrees and friendly service.
In 1993 Danielle took sole control of Geordanes and George was replaced by Chef Claudio Pillacela, Ecuadorian born and raised with élan for culinary arts.
Through the years the mentality of Geordanes has remained constant; to provide its customers with the highest quality products. Danielle’s beliefs on nutrition and well being reflect the selection of food in her market. She is an avid reader of Nutritional Magazines which allows her to continuously add new products to her inventory. Furthermore, the wants and needs her clientele is not just heard but met. This unique relationship separates Geordanes from many other markets.
